December Volunteer of Month: Lisa Byrne
DECEMBER’S VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH IS…. Lisa Byrne!
She was nominated because “[she is] one of our most regular contributors out in Mission this year - she attended almost all of our trailwork sessions and became one of the go-to volunteers for our carpentry needs.” (If you like the new Loki bridge, give her a huge thank you!)
Lisa’s loves volunteering with COOGS because… “I believe very strongly in trail stewardship and have worked for many years to build an alliance between all of the trail user groups in Duluth to work collaboratively on trail issues, including education, maintenance and when needed, building new trail.”
Lisa’s favorite trail to bike is… “Wherever I am currently biking! Though, since I live next door to Hartley that gets a lot of my pedaling miles. I often use the single-track trails (Hartley, Downers Park, Morningside, Hawk Ridge, Lester Park) to commute to work in Lakeside when trail conditions and my schedule allow.”
Lisa’s favorite biking memories are…. “This fall I finally rode the full Duluth Traverse and followed it up the next week with riding the Heck of the North 50 mile course.”
“Have had some fun training rides for the Heck in the past, one where it rained most of the time and I alternated with being covered in mud from the gravel roads and then being washed clean by a downpour.”
“Took my gravel bike to Montana a couple years ago and rode some fun gravel roads out there, including some rides with my grandson on his strider bike.”
THANK YOU LISA!
We appreciate everything you have done for COGGS! Thank you @theskihut and @ursa_minor_brewing for awesome swag for our volunteer of the month Lisa!
