Big Changes to COGGS Membership

July 19, 2019

We have some exciting changes around COGGS HQ. As of June 15, 2019 The Cyclists Of Gitchee Gumee Shores will directly manage and maintain our own organizational membership. Previously, club membership was managed through the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA). We remain a supporter of IMBA, however now your membership dollars go directly to COGGS and are not filtered through the national organization.

What does this mean?

This means that your COGGS membership fee goes directly to support, develop and maintain and advocate for trails in the Twin Ports. Historically, we paid about $15 per membership to IMBA for their administrative support and database management. This is a critical feature for new and developing clubs, and COGGS benefited greatly from IMBA support over the years. However, COGGS has reached a point in our development where we can manage our own affairs, and we aim to keep your membership support local.

What are the direct benefits?

Managing and maintaining our own membership database allows COGGS more flexibility in our membership levels (student, family, VIP, supporter, etc), lowers our operating costs, and puts more money per membership directly towards COGGS. There are no longer any processing fees for membership dues. Well - except for credit card fees. But aside from that - It’s just membership. And it’s pretty cool.

What’s next? Join COGGS

We urge you to show your support and join/renew your membership with COGGS today. Club membership remains a critical component to our organization, and allows us to do what we do. We thank you for your support.

But wait, I just renewed my IMBA/COGGS Membership

If you recently renewed your membership with COGGS through IMBA, have no fear, it will be honored through COGGS going forward. When your annual renewal date comes around, you will get an email from COGGS with directions on how to renew with us. You can always visit here to find out more at any time: https://www.coggs.com/membership

Setting up Auto-renew

For those of you that have automated your membership through IMBA, you will need to set up payment through our new COGGS system. Again, you will receive an email when your annual membership requires renewal. Thank you for your continued membership support.

But what about those sweet membership deals?!

As a COGGS bike club member, you will still have access to member benefits. We will continue to find sweet deals. Current membership deals include:
