gallivant: verb \ˈga-lə-ˌvant\ : to go or travel to many different places for pleasure Gitchee Gumee Gallivant: noun : Our favorite day of the year! The Gitchee Gumee Gallivant is COGGS’ annual celebration of all the great trails we are able to ride in Duluth and all the great people we are able to share them with. Each year, this ride gets more and more exciting with more singletrack opening up. We invite everyone to come spend the day with COGGS as we meander across our favorite city on a hill. We’ll start in the morning at Chambers Grove park and end about 50-something miles later at Brighton Beach. The ride will include sections of all of Duluth's trail clusters and a combination of Duluth Traverse, DWP railroad grade, and Skyline Parkway to connect them all! The GGG is a free and very casual event. We’ll ride at a relaxed group pace as we traverse the city, and you are welcome to join in the ride or drop off at any point. Plan on a full day of fun singletrack, amazing views, and friendships with your fellow mountain bikers. The GGG is truly one of the most fun days spent on two wheels. Itinerary: 8:00 -Meet at Chambers Grove park, enjoy some breakfast snacks and coffee provided by COGGS. Limited parking is available at the park due to another event, please carpool or park nearby and bike to Chambers Grove. We can park at Mont du Lac in the lower lot on the wooded side of the parking lot. Please be respectful and don’t take the best spots. 9:00 - Ride starts up in the Mission Creek Trails 9-5 - We saunter across our favorite city on a hill. Check back for ride tracking info if you're looking to catch up partway. 5:30ish - Ride will end with a triumphant group photo at Brighton Beach. ***PRIZES for best Super Hero Costumes! Must complete the GGG and be available for the group photo*** The plan is to continue with the event rain or shine. In the event of rain, we will alter the route to include more segments of two track, railroad grade, gravel, and rocky singletrack.
