COGGS Meeting Minutes for May 12, 2009.

Meeting held at Chester Creek Cafe, 7:00 pm.

Meeting called to order by Adam Sundberg.

Board members in attendance: Adam Sundberg, Bill Schwalbe, Mike Miller, Mick Dodds, Sherie Nelson, Chris White, Jeff Fraboni, Matt Evingson

Secretary’s report: Mmsc to approve April minutes.


Treasurer’s report: Savings $1,684.87; Checking $6154.60

Discussion items:


United Way:

Portion of money from concession sales to be given to United Way.

Motion made to give 25% of the $240 ($60) to United Way. Mmsc.


Building of COGGS into the club that can make riding in Duluth what we all want it to be:

Documentation:

Need a mission document. Goals including 1yr, 5 yr, 10 yr


501c (3): need to do, or check into becoming a part of IMBA.


Need to document what has been done. Work done, number of volunteers, number of hours.

Trail Stewards are key to the success of this.

Adam will start making a Mission Statement and will start/create a campaign of stewardship and form for tracking work done.


Political Advocacy:

There will be a meeting with the mayor about trails in the Duluth area. Some from COGGS have been asked to attend.

Asking for multi-use trails on the west side of town. (Near Mission Creek and Jay Cooke State Park)



Trail Patrol:

People riding with first aid, and for trail maintenance as well as being there for contact with riders on the trail.


Wet Trail signs:

Would like to create some signs to mark trails closed for riding. For use to mark when too wet to ride.

Chris said he would work on making some.


Dirt Spanker:

St. Mary’s, Duluth Clinic (SMDC) providing medical.


Trail builder T-shirts and two time awards:


COGGS Involvement:

Motion to renew memberships to CAMBA, MORC, IMBA. Mmsc


Superior Bike Rodeo:

Thursday, June 11, 2009.


National Trails Day:

Saturday, June 6, 2009.

Re-route trail off of private land.

Meet at 9am.


Brewer Park:

Denied for now by city and county (real estate division).
