Meeting Minutes for February, 2008

COGGS Meeting Minutes for February 8, 2008.

Meeting held at Chester Creek Cafe, 7 pm.

Meeting called to order by Adam Sundberg.

Board members in attendance were: Adam Sundberg, Mike Miller, Chris White, Sherie Nelson

Secretary’s report: January’s minutes posted on web site.

Treasurer’s report: N/A

Discussion items:

Bike swap:  Discussion mainly revolved around the bike swap being located at Continental's shop, and whether or not this is an issue or concern to have COGGS logo on the advertising as a sponsor.  COGGS has never been, and was created to not be, affiliated with any one bike shop.  The bike swap will raise money for United Way. COGGS sponsors this event by a having members volunteer at it.

Motion made to have volunteers at the bike swap and keep the COGGS logo on the flyer. Motion passed unanimously.

Trails:

Hartley: 1) Root Canal reroutes, and post party.  Post party to be held at Matt’s.  2) Failed communications with NE MN IMBA rep.  3) Whereabouts of private property.   4) Need for bridges including a 50 foot bridge at the power line crossing.  5)  Cost of new brush cutter.  6)  Web sites for a map of Duluth public lands, and Granite Gear packs for trail building.

Lester Park: One small reroute is needed, and has been scouted by Whitey.  It needs new bridges.  The long bridge is built.  Three more bridges are needed. Need wood for bridges.  When I talked to Jeff later, he said he does not have the long bridge built, but has the wood for it.

Communications director:  Newsletter will get one out late March/early April. It should include a membership form, trails update, goals for COGGS, and dates for races and sports health.

SMDC would like to sponsor Powder Monkey. They would have to be the only medical sponsor. We need to make sure the Minnesota Mountain Bike Patrol will not be a conflict.

Motion made to support the Bike Rodeo for the next three years. Motion passed unanimously.

Rudy wanted to know if they can do trials competition at races.  Permission was given.

We received information from the DATA meeting that Twin Ponds to Chester will be single track.

Next meeting:  March 11, Time: 7 pm

Location:         Green Mill Restaurant.
